It’s not anyone I know personally, and at first it seemed really easy to just say, “I don’t have any money. I hope they get what they need.” like I do with most crowdfunding ventures. This is different though. I really do hope all those artists and game designers and writers and indie tech companies get the money to do what they love. But this is more important. These kids are in an abusive situation, and that shouldn’t be allowed to continue. I hate reposting stuff like this. It makes me feel spammy. I hate the thought of intruding on other people’s lives and pushing my values onto them. Sometimes though, you have to be willing to embarrass yourself. You have be willing to be annoying. You have to scrounge up those ten bucks and forgo your coffee for a day. I’m sorry if this annoys anyone here, on Facebook, on Twitter, wherever. I’m way more sorry this is a necessity because in a perfect world adults wouldn’t abuse kids and other adults wouldn’t allow that to continue.
An old, dear friend of mine needs help with some legal costs related to getting her stepkids out of an abusive situation.
